Aquamarine Cuff bracelet-Gemstone Cuff-"Robin's Egg"

The "Robin's Egg" is a breathtaking gemstone cuff bracelet, with dense clusters of natural, untreated aquamarine briolettes and pink tourmaline. Each gemstone (and there are dozens and dozens of them!) are wire wrapped to a substantial, heavy gauge Argentium silver cuff using fine silver wire. The center of the bracelet features a smooth, polished nugget of pink sapphire. The aquamarine color varies in hue from the palest aqua to a blue-green, and are completely natural. The stones have not been heat treated or color enhanced in any form.

Approximate measurements: 2 1/2" inner diameter

I'm providing some information on how to wear a cuff that may be helpful. Since a cuff is a firm piece of jewelry, it is not made to be opened and squeezed repeatedly in order to wear it. Doing so will shorten its life considerably, particularly with sterling, and in this cuff's case, Argentium silver. Silver is soft and malleable, but when bent repeatedly in the same place, it becomes brittle. Eventually, it will snap in half, if one does not take care when wearing! In addition, due to the heaviness of the metal, and the stones wrapped to most of it, this cuff is not meant to be adjusted drastically. It can however, be adjusted slightly at the tips. To ensure your cuff will last, please follow the steps below:

1. Apply one end of the bracelet on the soft underside of your wrist, about 2" from your hand (ABOVE your wrist bone) If you need to open the ends in order for it to fit, please open ONLY from the not bend from the middle of the cuff, which may cause the stones to loosen or break off.
2. Roll the other end on. This is the best way to get your cuff bracelets in & out.
3. Slide the bracelet over the wrist bone toward your hand.
4. Close the bracelet until it feels right by hugging it between your thumb and index fingers.
smaller. A bracelet that is your size will allow you to roll in and out (steps 1 & 2) without further bending.

Is vermeil the same as "gold plate"?

Many people have misconceptions about vermeil, because they confuse it with "gold plate". However, they are vastly different! Vermeil must meet the FTC standard of 100 millionths of an inch (2 ½ microns) of fine gold layered over sterling silver. In order for a piece to be labeled legally as "vermeil", the item must not be less than 10 karat gold and have a substantial thickness, with a minimum thickness of 2 ½ microns. In contrast, "gold plating" is a miniscule layer of solid gold applied to a brass base. The plating does not compose any measurable proportion of the product’s total weight, and is estimated to be 0.05% or less of the metal product. Gold plating will wear off rather quickly and expose the brass base product.

Is "Gold Filled" the same as "gold plated"?

No! Gold-filled is constructed in two or three layers. The core metal is jewelers’ brass. The gold alloy is then bonded to one or both surfaces of the brass core with heat and pressure. The bonded raw material is then sold as sheet or wire to jewelry manufacturers for use in designs. Gold-filled is legally required to contain 5% or 1/20 gold by weight. This 5% is then described by the karatage of the gold alloy. Most gold-filled is 12kt or 14kt gold-filled. All of the gold-filled used in my designs is 14kt. It is a beautiful and affordable alternative to solid gold.

Care instructions

Artisan jewelry is not mass produced, and needs to be cared for properly. Please do not wear your jewelry to sleep, bathe, or swim in. A great rule of thumb is to accessorize with your jewelry last! Be sure to apply perfume and hair products before putting on your precious jewels. Vermeil and sterling silver jewelry will tarnish, so to help keep that to a minimum, please store your jewelry in the box provided when not worn. While gold fill jewelry does not tarnish in the same way, it is a good idea to also protect it in a box, to help prevent scratching or damaging of any wire wrapped pieces. To clean, you can use a mild jeweler's cleaner that is safe for gemstones and gold. Please do NOT dip pearls, opals, or any other porous stone.
